Msuic Sites

Blogger itself has some pretty good pages with some pretty good people who listen to some pretty good music. Though everyones interest vary as i have noted multiple times before, anyone can find a page by simply typing in a artists name followed by blogspot into the google search engine and should be able to find pages written about that artists and dedicated to them. Some pages include free downloads and other posts about well, other artists. Most pages also include links to other blogger pages were people have done similar things.

Last.fm: this site helps you learn more about bands and assists you in your journey of new music discoveries. They have links to youtube videos, and has tabs which contain pictures and artists who are similar to those you are on the page of. There is a large variety of artists and a pretty much never ending list of those whom you should listen too. Just click and click and click.

Myspce has become a place for bands to gain fans and get discovered. Lately there has been a growing number of bands and artists who have become famous because they were discovered on this site. Anyone can make a page and therefore anyone has the chance to get discovered. This site also helps people in finding new bands because you can browse through genres and through and artists friends. A lot of artists and bands befriend other artists and band who have similar sounds because they tour and perform together. This makes it easier also for those such as myself to embark aon the never ending search for new bands who are not well known and posses that drive to get on top and the skill to get there.

Music Player on Shuffle

Song One:

Song-Whole lotta shaking going on
Artist-Jerry Lee Lewis

Great song by a well, definitely musically talented man. He had done some strange things in his life (watch great balls of fire to understand). He was controversial in that way but all who listen can approve of his music now.

Recommendations-
Little Richard: great man who made great music as well. He has made a big impact on this world and i hope that all of you know who he is and therefore i don't even feel the need to write any of his songs down.

Chuck berry whom i'd assume most people already know of and have heard. (roll over Beethoven...Johnny b goode...no particular place to go)

Song Two:

Song-Walking after Midnight
Artist-Patsy Cline

Just hearing her name most aren't aware that they have heard songs from this artists. She has popular hits such as crazy. If you were to go and look it up i am sure you could instantly recognize it. Her songs are played on legends 102.7 so listen!
What a beautiful woman.

Recommendations-Well i don't really listen to music like hers too often so i would have to recommend that if you like this to listen the The Shangri-Las. All female band with some wonderful songs.

Song Three:

Song- I Wanna Be Your Dog
Artist- The Stooges

Legendary punk band. If you don't know them look em upppppp. They have been a part of the building blocks of todays punk and other older punk bands. A lot of people can probably say that they have seen pictures of Iggy too so go on and type them in your google search engine. It'll be well worth your time.

Recommendations- The Ramones. Well that name pretty much just speaks for itself. You have heard of them but weather or not you've listened to them is the question. Most have but once again if you haven't do it. They have many memorable hits that are easily recognizable.

Song Four:

Song- Big take Over
Artist- Bad Brains

They used to be a band frequently played in the old days of Mtv. They have a puck sound with a vocalist that makes them rememberable and easily able to distinguish as well as recognize. They formed back in the 70's and have been said to be considered pioneers of hardcore punk. Well....

Recommendations- Circle Jerks
These guys have a similar sound musically speaking. Their lyrics are strange and surely entertaining.

Black flag. Hope you have heard of them. Their band logo has been tattooed on many bodies all over. COme on people you know Henry Rollins and if you know HEnry Rollins you must know Black Flag. It IS avid for you to listen to a Black Flag album if you have even heard his name before.

asdfsd

I have not watched watched much television lately and therefore cannot complain about much HOWEVER i do need to bring up the point that Lady GaGa is wearing a leather Jacket with GISM and Doom on it. I in a million years never would have guessed that some one like lady Gaga or any famed celebrity with pop and dance songs would wear something like this...EVER. Some of my friends cannot get over this and have been talking about it all week, Recently i finally watched the video myself and was definitely surprised and in shock by this. If you don't understand by bewilderment it is simply because you are not familiar with the genre i am associating this band wit hand therefore would have to listen to them yourself in order to understand. The beginning entire video does not seem to fit together, at least in my opinion it did not. It appears as though it is a bunch of small advertisements thrown together into a story. As i think about it i am torn between believing she would actually listen to this and that she just wears it because well...because of who she is. B9 is all over this, they have their opinions flying for pages. GaGa is all over. End.

Haven't listened to much radio either. Frankly it is pretty boring and down right stupid. They play all the same things and play nothing. When i do actually listen to the radio though i would prefer to listen to legends 102.7. Great station, great people. They play oldies sure but at least they are good. Sure they do not get around much on regular stations but that is because most others do not even care about GOOD music. This channel plays good music and i recommend that everyone listens to it. At least once in a while.

As for television haven't watched much of that. Sure i have watched some music videos but lately i have been forced to rely on the Internet for i am tired of trying to watch them on television. It is way to annoying to sit through commercials and bad videos to watch one that interest me. Except that recently commercials on the Internet have been upping the frequency for which they are appearing. There are more of them more frequently. Simply to play a game i have had to sit through a minute of them and before each video i have to sit through commercials as well. I guess computers are turning into some sort of televisions themselves. I do not want TV to go away but who knows maybe one day all entertainment on TV will have to be viewed on computer screens instead.

MTV

MTV otherwise known as music television station. When MTV first came along it was all about bringing music to life without a face to face performance and letting you see what maybe was is behind the music. Lately however it seems that MTV no longer focuses on music. At least not as it's number one. Shows like the buried life, cribs, My Life As Liz and other shows have taken over the time blocks. I can even remember that when i was younger i could look forward to seeing actual music videos being played when i turned to that Chanel. Now i only expect to see another person who wrote a letter and got their own TV show to be playing. Some are not even related to music at all. Sure you must please the people and entertain them to keep in business but really how many of the same shows can we be expected to watch. If i want to listen to music and maybe find something knew i shouldn't have to wait for all the crappy life reflections programs to pass before i get what i really do want. of course there are times where i do not mind to watch shows such as these but when i want to watch music videos it should not be as much of a hassle as it seems to be these days. Oh the Internet... it is what i have ended up becoming dependant on when i do decide to watch a music video. They are all out there floating around somewhere and finding them usually is not to hard. Anyways things have been developed to make things easier on us but in a way it has made us weaker and more dependent on other types of resources. I like TVs and i enjoy having one except that it has been getting more and more of a rip off with less and less entertainment. Most of my music had come from the Internet, because i do not have time to wait around for something good to come on TV, and because there are more places to go to potentially find something i would be interested in. I do not mind the variety but i do miss the ol TV, remote and couch form of entertainment, musically speaking of course. Music videos were the new thing and were exciting for everyone when it first come along. Unfortunately like everything else people get bored and need new things to keep them entertained. I guess MTV decided that we should give every rich kid a TV show doing whatever they wanted and hoped we would fall in love with them...it seams as though a large percent of the population must have because they keep on keeping on with the wretched shows.

I guess though like with everything else in life, peoples interests change and what is important to them changes as well. Music has seemed to be no exception to this. Over time music was one of the sole methods of expression. When people rebelled they had music, when they were happy they had music, and when they were sad they had music to get them by and share all their ideas. As time has gone on people have found new ways to do this and it seems to be done without the help of music. Like record player and tape players have come to pass it appears as though the music television era is winding down. Soon another will come along and pass then another and another. Till then lets enjoy and good stations that there are left before they disappear and exist only in memories and as revelations of the past.

Lady GaGa & Ke$ha

So lately i have heard that Lady GaGa is our generations Madonna. I kind of sorta agree with that except Madonna does not have that freak show sorta vibe that Lady GaGa has created for herself. In all honesty i can not help but get her songs stuck in my head and do a little dance when i hear them once in a while. I do the same with Madonna songs so that's where i see how they are alike. Also the fact that they both do not appear the way all other pop icons have sets them aside into their own similar group. Both are part of a pop culture world where people are looking for something different even though it is mainly the same. The show is what people want. When they favor an entertainer it is because they well...entertain. Singers now days are not expected to just sing and dance, they must have some other element to them and Lady GaGa seems to have just that. sure her songs are the best written and most musically complex but for those of us who were born to late to experience the Madonna days we have Lady GaGa to give us that edge we are looking for in modern day pop culture.

Now for Ke$ha. I can not stand her. Honestly i think her songs are down right annoying and should not be liked as much as they are. I hear her songs on the radio all the time and find myself asking how in the world can anyone stand this. As soon as i hear her voice i freak out. Its disgusting. She sounds like she is whining and having some problems with her organs. It is just not right. I do not understand what makes her appealing. The way she sings and the things she sings give me the impression that she is illiterate and down right trashy. Sorry if you like her but for me i am not feeling it at all. The songs are not catchy and are made only to listen to if you are drunk out of your mind in a club about to vomit. When you have to vomit her music will come on just in time to assist you.
Given both are not the best artists ever but i do give more props to Lady GaGa due to the fact that she has a very outstanding music education and attended a very well known and highly honored music school. On any day i would absolutely listen to Lady GaGa over Ke$ha.

Icon Tragedies

So lately i haven't bothered listening to the radio even for humor, it's just getting to hard to handle. It's plain horrible. Therefore this week i have decided to talk about tragic deaths and sicknesses of famous icons. We all have known of some artist(s) whom have been diagnosed with some deathly illness and/or dies by some tragic means.

One recent case involves the infamous Dio, who has currently been diagnosed publicly with cancer. Many of us ourselves have been surrounded by somebody who is or has battled cancer. Whether they win of not it is a most difficult thing to face. Throughout his life Dio has brought us captivating classics that are forever going to be drilled into music. His voice reigns all over and is instantly recognisable. Dio is well known for starting a tradition in a music scene, if you know Dio you know what I'm talking about then. No matter what happens to him, though we hope he makes it through, Ronnie James Dio is forever going to be with us.

A man who has beat cancer and publically had a stoke, at a performace none the less, is one Bobby "Blitz". Yes this middle ages monster has made it through the tretcherous cancer grounds and come out on top. After going through propper procejure to get rid of his nose cancer, Bobby has come out into the world ready to face anything. Even after his stroke on stage nothing stops him from living the life his has worked so hard to achieve.

It's always great to here that some celebrity can beat cancer because it helps to spread the word about how serious cancer is, but that there is hope for those who have been diagnosed. Getting a little of the music topic i think cancer is a serious thing that we all need to know about. You are not invincible and anything can happen to you. The best thing for you to do now is to be proactive and try with all your might to not intentionally involve yourself in something that could possible cause you to face cancer, it's not a game. Almost all of have faced cancer in some way or another and with that said, do what you can now with at least some regard to your future if you intend to have one.

I think i want to end this post differently than the subject it has pertained to. I feel as though i should, since I'm blogging about music, should recommend some music that you should listen to.
First off listen to local bands, you have to, if they're good, because they are representing where your from.
Bands/Artists:
lets go old school first and say...
Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, Bad Brains, Cab Calloway, Patsy Cline, D.R.I, Venom, and Agnostic Front.
Local...
Dasha, Neurolepsy, Insubordinates, Bad Taste, Like Wolves, I Object, and Rational Animals.
Some Other Stuff That May Interest SOmebody...
Discount, Amebix, Circle Jerks, Sleep, and The Shangri-Las
^all listed above vary.
I get it, everyone has different tastes in music and some, like me, have varying tastes themselves. I can listen to almost anything good and so i find myself listening to many genres. All that i have listed fit into different genres so that you can get a taste of something you may have never listened to before or so that you can find some that you like within the genres you prefer. So maybe by chance you will stumble across something that strikes your fancy.

Another Compilation Of Random Topics

Pictures
Show photos, another great part of these events. They help to keep the memories vivid even after your mind starts to lose track. I have wanted for a while now to make albums of wonderful show pictures. Many can make a name for themselves locally, and sometimes nationally by doing so greatly. The best are those taken up close and right in the show, not off to the side or from afar. I myself have gotten down with taking pictures at shows. Although not too much recently as i would like for using a film slr is hard to do at a show when you have run out of film during a set. Honestly though film is wonderful. Not to get off track since this is a music related blog it is always a good thing to have some type of camera near by when a show is going on. Who knows, you may end up capturing a picture of a landmark moment in music.

Famous/(ish) Bands/ Musicians From Our Area

Psyopus: This band has had their albums noted in a few well known magazines. I myself have seen then play once and it's definitely strange to think that they are here playing locally on stage and were recently out of town doing another tour somewhere else. Their sound caught on as strange as it is but the difference between them and every other band is what must have set them apart and let them be able to take on being known world round.

Cab Calloway: Definitely different form the band listed above however he is still a great artists. His works can be heard in productions such a The Blues Brothers. This movie has exposed an all new generation to his works and given him an all new fan base. As you walk by the racks of a movie and see this movie think, holy crap, a musician from this band is from this area where i live right now! It's a crazy thing to think about but an inspiring thing none the less.

Another prime example would be s.o.d. Outstanding band no doubt, and still have members whom have stayed true to their roots and still attend many local shows to support the up and comings of the newer generations(and some old). I would highly recommend getting into this band if you wish to play the type of music they do for the people themselves are inspiration in the way that they live their lives.

Joe Locke
Though he was not raised in Rochester, Locke was raised here and studied at the Eastman school of music. Many apsiring musicians around our area would love to attend this school. Before even graduating high school Locke had perfromed with many astounding artists. After High school however he moved to New York City and perfromed with artists such as The Beastie Boy and Rod Stewart.

Anyone in a band with heart, talent and drive can look to these bands/artist for inspiration. They all worked hard and made it. There isn't any reason why another great band or artist from Rochester can't be brought out on top.

Show locations
soooo where are you to go form a good show...well try a local venue. Check band sites and check blogs, check websites and check street lamps. These are places you're likely to find the address of where you must head to have a good time. Unfortunately if you don't know about the specific location you see on a flyer site, etc... you may get screwed. Some venues have strict policies although this really only matters to a specific music genres. Houses can make it easier to have a show because then you set the rules and you decide what can go down. Many have been shut down or cut out by certain scenes because they don't support the ideals of the certain bands and artists. My advice if you're putting on a show, do it at a good place where people can actually enjoy themselves and not have to sit around waiting to leave, only staying because of the price they payed to get in.

Things

Genres
What makes a band and/or artists fit into a certain genre? Would it be their looks, sound, inspiration of just what one particular sound sounds like? Personally i don't think any band/artist should be placed into a genre based on only one of their songs but rather the way they perform and they way they have decided to create all of their songs. Some have spent their entire musical career based on one sound. Eventually many turn around and make a change. For instance they make take on a heavier sound or create songs with a lighter tone. We hope we can still tolerate them even though they're making this change and hope in the end the change is good. It's a 50/50 shot and not to mention you fell for the band they were before not for what they would have been a few years down the road. I myself look for music within the same genre but tends to push the limits. I want music that dares to be different and doesn't have some cliche sound developed to please the people. I want to listen to music made by the artists for the love of music and not for the love of money. Make the music you want and not the music they will make you the most money. I mean unless of course that's all you care about and then I'll have no respect for you.
What music can do
Besides providing entertainment music also serves as a means of motivation. during sports events there is also music playing to keep the fans engaged and to keep the team playing. When i song come on that has an upbeat and excited tone the fans are usually temped to cheer in their team some more and the teams become pumped and ready to play some more. Even just simply exercising many people bring personal music devices to keep them pumped. The music can help them run those extra couple minutes and do those last few sit-ups. I myself see a difference in my motivation levels when i forget to bring the music that pumps me up. If i don't have the music that makes me feel good playing while I'm trying to exercise i don't feel like i really want to keep going.
In relations to whats going on the world today music can help bring hope to people and families whom are affected by tragedies. I hold so much respect for an asrtists who use their musical talents and fame in order to put on shows as fundraisers to help get those people back on their feet. If only more celebrities could realize the potential they have to help others with their blessed success. If a celebrity puts on a benefit concert more are likely to show up because for one they are famous and doing something for the people and two its for a good cause and many will go out the support them and their cause.
Shows
Probably are the best part of music is when you can go to a show and be apart of it. At home you just listen to the music and maybe dance around with a few friends but at a show you get to experience the moment with the artists and others who frankly are more like you than the people you see elsewhere. Shows are a way to make friends and let loose. Depending on the type of show you are at people are going to be reacting differently to the music. Either way whats going on connects the people to the music and it's is a wonderful time. I try to go to as many shows as i can within the genres of music i listen to because i feel most comfortable there. I am surrounded by people that are like me and have the same interests and i can be able to be a little care free whereas if i were anywhere else trying to have fun that way i just would not be able too.
Clothes
Just because you listen to a certain type of music doesn't mean you have to dress, talk, or act a certain way. Generally speaking you tend to dress a particular way depending on the music you listen to. This doesn't apply to everyone. What matters most is the music and not the appearance. Most dress the way they do because it fits them. Another thing, just because some one dresses in a particular way it doesn't mean they do listen to a certain type of music. These two things are not always intertwined, sometimes things just happen. Music is a part of life and so is the way you look, whether we like it or not there's defiantly discrimination against people who dress a certain way or listen to a certain type of music. However, everyone has a different personality, that's why it's called a PERSONality and not a peoplesality. I am no saint when it comes to this but lately i try not to think only about the appearance of somebody but also on how they talk and present themselves. The music they listen to does not mean a person is any lesser then you or for that matter any better.

...wow

Miley

Lindsay

Ah celebrities, us so called "normal" folk can recognize you wherever you are. Some of us look up to you and are inspired by your works so why is it that you must continually make a song yet again telling us about how famous you are and how people love you and are following you. Frankly it's annoying and not to mention unoriginal. Textbook celebrities are letting us down and seem to be running out of ideas as to what music is and how to make it. Countless artists have made songs talking about how they are so famous and the paparazzi are always following them. If you weren't interested in being in the spotlight why is it that you decided to be a celebrity in the first place? If it's true that your intent was not to be in the lime light then stop causing a scene. Paparazzi are around to catch you (not with a helping hand) when you’re doing something that any of the rest of us would be cursed and looked down upon for doing. You go to night clubs and make a scene, you go out in public without panties on to reveal (if only unintentionally), you dance around on a stripper pole and act like you've done nothing obscene, you have gotten away with things that some of us can only have hoped to have gotten away with. After all these things you still have your fame and you still have your money. Somehow you even still have some self respect and those few fans respect.
Now let’s see what these poor celebrities complain about in their similar songs and not to mention similar videos.
-They think we want to know all of their secrets and what they do when they're with their friends; as if their life is so important to us
-Who their significant other is; because we're just so in love with them
-Only here say is what is produced for the public to see; except usually when asked they are too important to talk to a lesser person and answer their questions even if it would clear up any misunderstandings
-We're always watching them and looking at them in public; you're out in public do what you’re doing but don't do anything publically that you wouldn't want anyone to know about
-You need your space; let’s be honest not every single second of your life is on camera, some and maybe a good amount is but again you wanted to be famous you wanted to sing and become a celebrity
I'm probably not the only person who is tired of hearing about celebrities lives. We have our own lives to live and don't need to spend our precious time worrying about what shoes a celebrity bought, what coffee they bought, what sunglasses they are wearing, who they are dating or splitting up with. Why do we even let ourselves be concerned about these things? It makes no sense. Unless one celebrity does inspirational things and has led a very helpful and good life that you have always wanted to do you mustn’t concern yourself with what somebody you do not even know and probably will never knows life.

Another point I wish to bring up is originality, where has it gone? Down the drain it would seem. If this is all that the radio has succumb to and has decided to play I think that I’ll never listen to it again, except of course the few channels which still play older song which have the originality many of us are seeking. And the covering of songs...why is it that a good amount of songs played on the radio is covers of songs that were once tolerable? YOU'RE RUINING GOOD MUSIC! No you aren't making it better or anything like that, what you are doing is destroying the few good songs left. To be honest many people now days don't even realize that they are listening to a cover. All they know is that they are listening to a catchy dance song that sounds like everything else they've ever heard. What a joke.
Your job as celebrities is to entertain and so I again wish to make another important point, when are you going to make something entertaining? I'm tired of hearing the same song over and over again with a sort of different voice. Even voices these days sound the same. Countless times discoveries have even been made supporting the fact that there are secret faces behind the voices we're hearing. So start doing your jobs better. We're waiting.

This Is It.

I am not by any means certified to insult any band or singer however i am an avid listener of music, as are many, and i am declaring this as my way of expressing my opinions about artists. Just like many i have started out listening to one type of music and since then have grown out of it and developed new opinions about those bands.

Musical interests and taste changes as life does. The way you grow up can indeed influence the way you feel about a certain band or an entire genre. To this day i have recognized the lack of talent that is needed to become a radio sensation. It is not my intent to offend anyone who adores the radio but merely just to produce my input and ideas for the public to see. Whether or not you agree with me is entirely up to you. I will not think lower of anyone whom does not agree with my views or ideas.

Long before before radio, tapes and records music has been a big part in many peoples lives. It has been there throughout times of great turmoil, times of change, and times of utter and sheer happiness. Whatever the stance of a person's emotion music has been there to capture it all. Before tapes, records, and 8-tracks music has existed. Religions have produced song to express their faith, tribes have created songs to invoke hope and strength, whatever the case music has been there and always will be.

Growing up we do not always have somebody to depend on, somebody to tell else what to do or how to handle how we are feeling. We may be unsure as to what to do and so we need something to put under us a little life support. Artists have produced songs to explain the paths they have taken and the choices they have made. Keeping in mind that they are human we can find comfort in the fact that they have overcome obstacles which we may be experiencing in our own lives. Many can recall a time in their life when they just needed somebody to know how they felt and to help them though it so they put on a song that captured their exact emotion and thus were able to come out of their current slum.

For the most part great classics will be the foundation for new artists who hope to produce timeless pieces of their own. It is the duty of these artists to produce good music for those of us whom are not gifted with these musical abilities. Therefore we as a people must pick out the bad apples and separate them from the good.

So here we are stuck in a world full of wretched music blocking out the small wonders trying so hard to reach our ears. It doesn't take a special ability to sense an artists who will step over the boundaries of the norm where every song songs just like the next. You just simply have to pay attention to what separates each artists from the others.
